Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire agreement on Saturday by resorting to heavy gunfire and shelling in forward areas along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, a defense spokesman said.
The shelling and shooting from across the border in the Nowshera sector “was unprovoked” and provoked appropriate retaliation by the Indian army, the spokesman said.
“At approximately 11:15 am, Pakistan initiated an unprovoked violation of the ceasefire by firing small arms and mortar shelling across LoC in Nowshera,” the spokesman said.

The cross-border bombardment between the two parties was ongoing when the latest reports were received. However, there were no immediate reports of casualties on the Indian side, he added.
Pakistan, in recent times, has also started sending Hawala weapons, ammunition, narcotics and money to Jammu and Kashmir with the help of drones. Since January 26, Pakistan has made at least six such attempts in the Jammu region.
