China and Pakistan have been creating border disputes under one mission, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said on Monday.

Opening 43 bridges built by the Border Roads Organization (BRO) in seven border states and union territories, as well as marking the closure of work on a tunnel in Arunachal Pradesh, Singh said: “You are also aware of the situation in our eastern and northern borders. It seems that the border disputes are being created under a mission, first by Pakistan and now even by China. The two countries share 7,000 km of borders with us and there is often tension in one sector or another. Despite such problems, the nation is not only dealing with these challenges with great determination, but it is also generating crucial changes in all sectors.

The bridges, built in Ladakh, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir, were dedicated to the nation by Singh in a virtual conference. Sources said seven of the 43 bridges are in Ladakh, where the Indian army has been locked in a clash with the Chinese PLA since May.

Singh said these bridges will help the movement of rations and military equipment to keep security forces stationed in remote border areas even during winter, when heavy snowfalls often cut off supply lines. He said the bridges will also make life easier for civilians living in remote border areas.

“These roads are not only for strategic needs, but also reflect the equitable participation of all stakeholders in the development of the nation,” Singh said.

He also congratulated the Border Roads Organization (BRO) for working tirelessly even during the pandemic.

“All sectors of the country, from agriculture and industry to our security system, have been affected by Covid 19… The BRO has continued its operations in the northeastern states, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and the union territories. from Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. BRO continued its work while making sure snow clearance is not delayed in remote locations, ”he said.

“I am pleased to learn that the BRO has cut more than 2,200 kilometers of roads over the past two years, using the latest technology and state-of-the-art equipment. In addition, the paving was carried out on about 4,200 km of roads, “he added.

Amid the border clash with China, India is accelerating work on several key projects, including a strategic highway linking Darcha in Himachal Pradesh with Ladakh, which will traverse several high-altitude snow-covered passes.

The nearly 290 km long road will be crucial for the movement of troops and heavy weapons to the border bases in the Ladakh region and will provide a crucial link with the Kargil region.
