Two Indian army soldiers were killed and four others injured in a violation of the ceasefire by Pakistan in the Naugam sector of northern Kashmir on Thursday morning, an army official said.
The army said Pakistan initiated an unprovoked violation of the ceasefire on the Line of Control (LoC) on Thursday morning. The wounded soldiers are being evacuated.
Army spokesman Rajesh Kalia said in a statement that Pakistan initiated an unprovoked ceasefire violation along the LoC in Naugam, Kupwara sector, firing mortars and other weapons.

A high-ranking police officer said an intermittent ceasefire violation has been taking place at the LoC since morning. “Besides other weapons, artillery is still fired,” he said, wishing not to be cited.
The soldiers who died have been identified as Havaldar Kuldeep of Sikh Light Infantry Unit 15 and Shubham 8-rifle Rifleman from Jammu and Kashmir.

On Wednesday, Lance Naik Karnail Singh was killed during the bombing of Pakistan along the 744 km long LoC in the Krishna Ghati (KG) sector of the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. The deceased soldier was a native of Loha Khera in the Sangrur district of Punjab.
On Monday, an army soldier was wounded when Pakistani forces opened fire on Indian pickets in the Machil sector in northern Kashmir.

This year there have been several violations of the ceasefire by Pakistan throughout the LoC, especially in northern Kashmir. The military has been responding to each of those ceasefire violations with full force. Senior army officials have said that the unprovoked violation of the ceasefire is primarily aimed at facilitating the infiltration of terrorists.
