“A Naib Subedar stationed at an outpost in the Keri sector sacrificed his life in the line of duty, when Pakistan resorted to unprovoked gunfire from the other side of the LoC,” said a defense official.
The Indian army has retaliated for the Pakistani shooting, he added.
“We are waiting for more details,” the official said.
On August 30, a JCO was killed in a Pakistani bombardment along the LoC in the Nowshera sector. The martyred JCO identifies himself as Naib Subedar Rajwinder Singh, who belonged to Khadur Sahib tehsil from Amritsar district in Punjab.
Last Saturday, the Border Security Force (BSF) had detected a cross-border tunnel, which originated in Pakistan and ran 150 meters into the Samba sector of the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu & Kashmir (J&K).
