A Pakistani man, who was allegedly trying to mobilise the Sikhs against India in Kashmir in England, attacked the Guru Arjan Dev shrine in Derby, on Monday morning.

The man was later identified and arrested for causing damage worth thousands of pounds in the Guru Arjan Dev Gurdwara, about 200 km from London.

The gurdwara describes the desecration of a hate crime and in a statement said that “an individual entered the gurdwara premises, causing thousands of pounds of damage. We can confirm that no one was injured and the cleanup process has begun.”

The footage of the CCTV showed they broke the glass doors of the gurdwara, shards of glass scattered all over the floor and a man in the interior of the premises.

The man left a note in broken English to mention Kashmir in the walls of the gurdwara, according to the communiqué received from New Delhi. “We try to help the people of Kashmir to the contrary, the problem of all”, says the message read, along with a phone number.

“This crime of hate or any type of crime against a Person is never going to deter us in our practice of seva (service) and simran (prayer). We will continue the service to the community, the langar and continue to transmit live nitnem (prayers). We will ensure the safety of all of our sevadars (volunteers), and employees,” the sanctuary, authorities said.

The attacks of the Indians and Indian origin people in London are the order. Last year in August, the Indians and people of Indian origin, who had gathered outside the High Commission of India in London to celebrate the 73rd Day of the Independence of India, were abused and attacked with eggs and bottles of water for Pakistan, sponsored by the protesters.
