The fate of Prasad and his wife had changed overnight in October after food vlogger Gaurav Vasan stumbled upon their small kiosk, where the duo were struggling to make ends meet during the pandemic-induced lockdown. in the first few months. Vasan’s urgent appeal to his followers caused a large crowd to crowd outside his makeshift food hall to enjoy home-cooked food after the heartbreaking video went viral on social media.

The kiosk sold dal, curries, parathas and rice for a meager 30-50 rupees a plate. Usually a popular spot before Covid’s arrival, the couple lost their daily income when people started avoiding food on the road. Appealing in the video, Prasad burst into tears showing some Rs 10 notes as his day’s collection.

Shortly after Prasad’s story became known, thousands of people, including celebrities, politicians, and even companies, stepped up to support him.

Prasad’s new restaurant is within walking distance of his old kiosk and he says he will continue to run his dhaba too. His restaurant, by the way, is also known as ‘Baba ka Dhaba’.

In his complaint to police, Prasad said Wasan recorded his video and posted it online and convinced the public on social media to donate money to the restaurant owner.
