One day after the Gujarat government imposed a full curfew on Ahemedabad from 9 p.m. on November 20 to 6 a.m. on November 23, the night curfew was reinstated in Rajkot, Surat and Vadodara between 9 pm and 6 am following the increase in Covid-19 cases in the state, the reimposition of the night curfew will take effect from November 21.
“The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation declared a night curfew from 9 pm to 6 am every day starting tomorrow to control the spread of COVID-19. The situation was reviewed late in the evening and it was decided that a full curfew will be imposed from 9 pm tomorrow until 6 am Monday in the city of Ahmedabad, ”an order said Thursday.
As many as 1,420 new cases of coronavirus infection have been found in Gujarat in the past 24 hours, bringing the state’s number of cases to 1,94,402, the health department said late Friday. The daily number of new infections has been increasing in the state. On Thursday, Gujarat added 1,340 cases, while on November 12 it had reported 1,120 cases.
Following the increasing number of cases, Gujarat schools and universities will not reopen from 23 November.
“The Gujarat government decides to postpone the reopening of schools and universities in Gujarat from 23 November in the wake of the current coronavirus situation,” the Chief Minister’s Office tweeted.
Previously, the state government had planned to reopen schools and universities across the state beginning Nov. 23.
