More than 45,000 students are likely to take the upcoming exams at 40 centers in five cities.
Prime Minister Soren took to Twitter last night and posted a poll asking students to share their thoughts on the NEET-JEE exams that are scheduled for September amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
“In particular, I want to ask and seek feedback from all my young engineer and medical friends. Will students face major difficulties if #JEENEET exams are postponed? “Soren had tweeted.

In another tweet, the CM said: “Tonight I am worried and tense as India continues to report more than 75,000 cases of Covid-19 every day. However, our union education minister @DrRPNishank ji (Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank) is not remotely concerned about the safety and health concerns of thousands of students who were forced to take the #JEENEET exams in September. “
Earlier, the prime minister had written to the union’s education minister demanding postponement of the exams.
When Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) Secretary General Supriyo Bhattacharya was asked if this exercise would help to postpone the exams, he said: “Let the exercise be completed. From then on, we will say it ”.
Reacting to the development, BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo said: “This is really unprecedented. A prime minister is holding a referendum on the previous Supreme Court ruling. This takes place at a time when the state has filed a petition for review in the Supreme Court and the hearing is pending.
Shahdeo said: “I think the prime minister should put all his energy to run the exam smoothly and in a healthy way instead of making a strategy to ruin the career of the students.”
The National Testing Authority, the nodal body for conducting the exams, and the central government are supposed to hold JEE-Main and NEET between September 1-6 and September 13, respectively. JEE-Main and NEET are for engineering students and aspiring physicians, respectively.
From Jharkhand, more than 45,000 students would appear for both exams. About 23,000 students would write the JEE-Main, while 22,000 would appear for the NEET exams. The exams will be carried out in 40 centers spread over five cities: Ranchi, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Hazaribag and Jamshedpur. Ranchi has a maximum of 25 centers. The district administrations of the respective cities have started preparations for free and fair examinations. Administration officials in Ranchi said that the entire Covid-19 protocol would be strictly followed, including masking, social distancing, and disinfection.
In view of the examinations, the Jharkhand government has also allowed the operation of the bus service, hotels and restaurants within the state from September 1 in the fourth phase of “unblocking”.
