Union Interior Minister Amit Shah, former head of Congress party Rahul Gandhi and many others expressed their gratitude to the nursing community on the occasion of International Nurses Day on Tuesday.

Shah said nurses are the backbone of the medical sector and that their role in containing the spread of the coronavirus is “remarkable.”

Gandhi described the nurses as “the unsung heroes” and said they are the first line of defense in the battle against the coronavirus pandemic. She thanked the community of nurses for working tirelessly 24 hours a day to save lives.
