Prime Minister Narendra Modi lashed out at the opposition for protests against the new agricultural marketing laws, accusing it of playing a trick on farmers. The attack occurs when thousands of farmers concentrate at the entry points of the national capital, seeking the repeal of the three laws, which Modi described as historical.
“Farmers are being misled about these historic farm reform laws by the same people who for decades have misled them,” he said, referring to the opposition parties but not naming them directly. Modi was on his way to a public meeting in his constituency of Lok Sabha, Varanasi, where he was scheduled to spend several hours.
Modi said that those who oppose the laws are causing apprehensions and protests, adding that they are misleading society.
“These same people in the past have played tricks with farmers on behalf of the MSP, loan exemption and fertilizer subsidy,” he said, adding that farmers have been misled for quite some time. Efforts are currently underway to ensure that farmers’ incomes are doubled, Modi said, listing the schemes launched for them.
‘The defense of the prime minister shows that the government is opposed to solving the demands of the farmers’
The All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC) attacked Modi for his defense of Farm Bills, saying it shows that the government is completely opposed to settling the farmers’ demands.
In a statement, the AIKSSC said: “The prime minister’s defense of the three agricultural bills in his episode ‘Man ki Baat’ shows that the government is completely opposed to settling the farmers’ demands.”
He said Modi has called the new farm laws a fulfillment of farmers ‘own demand, “for higher incomes,” “giving them new rights and new opportunities,” and his statements are an insult more to farmers’ hopes than the government. will make a sincere effort to address your issues and concerns.
“The government continues to claim that it has to raise awareness about the benefits of the Agricultural Laws, while the farmers are clear that these Laws only refer to the freedom of the company, the opportunities for the company, the income for the company, farmers’ expense, “said the AIKSCC.
He said that the 30 Punjab farmer organizations, AIKSCC and other farmer groups have rightly decided to unambiguously reject the call of the Union Interior Minister Amit Shah asking farmers to move to Burari, which everyone sees. as an attempt to restrict them and create an illusion of conversations and agreements.
“They have rightly rejected the conditional talks, while keeping the doors open to any sincere efforts by the government,” he said.
