The OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro are available for sale in the UK and Europe from April 21. The devices will not launch in the US. USA Until April 29. However, as early customers get their hands on the new OnePlus phones, some users are reporting concerns with the screen.

There are two incidents that are causing a stir on the OnePlus Community forums: one of them is the appearance of a green tint on the screen in low brightness settings. Okay, it’s one of those cases where a screen acts strangely under a specific set of conditions, but it’s not worth overlooking.
Users have found that turning on “DC Dimming” in the 8 Pro “OnePlus Lab” setting seems to correct the behavior of the green tint. Inadvertently activating the DC dimming feature causes a “black crush” side effect. “Crushed black” is when the darkest areas of an image lose detail and result in smudged patterns.

Following reports of this story, a OnePlus spokesperson has reached out to confirm that it is already investigating an issue and is working on a solution to get through an OTA update. It also confirmed that users can activate DC dimming settings as a temporary solution.

Regarding the green tint, we are working to resolve this in our next OTA.
You probably won’t even notice the problem if you’re using OnePlus 8 Pro in most circumstances. Green tint seems to happen at very low brightness levels when there are mainly dark gray or black images.
