OnePlus has brought another of its “standard” applications to the Google Play Store, this time it is the turn of OnePlus Messages.
The list of apps has now appeared, with the SMS and MMS app joining the recent OnePlus Weather app to free itself from OxygenOS updates. It will not work on non-OnePlus smartphones yet, but updates can now be obtained via the Play Store instead of OTA system updates (via Android Police).
OnePlus Messages has also hit the Play Store touting some new features, including the ability to copy and paste one-time passwords, financial transactions, and even promotions within the chat overview panel. We can see this as a way to help organize your SMS section, but we are not sure how well it will work in practice.
It doesn’t seem like the OxygenOS 11 massive overhaul has made it to this Play Store version of OnePlus Messages, as one-handed accessibility is not present. However, it does include the features mentioned above for those with compatible OnePlus hardware.

Being able to copy and paste one-time passwords is a long-needed feature in OnePlus Messages, but maybe you’ve already switched to Google Messages anyway. If you insist on using OnePlus Messages, you can now get it directly from the Google Play Store if you want.
