  • OnePlus has confirmed that it will launch a Snapdragon 888 flagship at H1 2021.
  • This marks the continuation of a brand’s longstanding launch tradition.
  • Xiaomi, Oppo, and Realme have also revealed iconic Snapdragon 888 details.

Qualcomm has revealed some details about its new flagship Snapdragon 888 processor, and we expect it to power a host of high-end smartphones in 2021.

Now, an official OnePlus video posted on the Snapdragon Tech Summit website has revealed that OnePlus will launch a Snapdragon 888 flagship in the first half of 2021.

“We believe that the technological innovation of this flagship platform in 5G, games, camera and other aspects will contribute to the high-end flagship that OnePlus will launch in (the) first half of next year,” says an executive in the video.

It’s no surprise to learn that OnePlus is working on a Snapdragon 888 flagship slated for this launch window as it has been a tradition for years. However, it is noteworthy to get this confirmation from the brand itself. We expect the company to launch the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro.

Who else is working on the Snapdragon 888 flagships?

OnePlus isn’t the only brand confirming details about a Snapdragon 888 phone for next year. Realme has shown details and pictures of its Race smartphone. Xiaomi also noted that the Mi 11 with Snapdragon 888 would be launched “very soon”, and Redmi GM Lu Weibing added that the Redmi sub-brand will also offer it.

Oppo also said in an official video that its next Find X flagship will be powered by the SoC and will launch in the first quarter of 2021. The brand previously confirmed that the Find X3 would offer comprehensive support for 10-bit colors.

Snapdragon 888 Partners

Otherwise, Qualcomm showed a graph on stage yesterday (seen above), naming more device partners. Prominent names on the list include Asus, Black Shark, Nubia, LG, and Vivo.

It’s worth noting that names like Google, Samsung, and Sony are missing, but we wouldn’t read too much on this. For example, the 2019 edition of this chart did not include Google, Realme, or Sony, but only Google was unable to deliver a Snapdragon 865 series phone in 2020.
