OnePlus isn’t generally considered to be at the top of the stack when it comes to camera quality, with the likes of Google, Huawei, and Samsung generally ranked ahead. But the recently leaked OnePlus 8 Pro specs point to a phone with impressive camera hardware in theory.
Now, the company’s CEO, Pete Lau, has posted OnePlus 8 Pro ultra-wide camera samples on Twitter, along with photos of an unnamed flagship phone. The inference is that the brightest photos with the least noise belong to the next OnePlus device.
Ultra wide that can get very close.

Lau’s subtitle of “ultra wide angle that can get very close” also suggests that you can crop in the ultra wide angle shot and still have good quality images.
The previously leaked OnePlus 8 Pro camera specifications allege that the new phone has a 48MP IMX586 ultra-wide camera, which matches the Oppo Find X2 Pro. Therefore, the company could be using pixel binning and / or its Nightscape mode for better ultra-wide shots at night, while ultra-wide photos during the day can take full advantage of all those pixels.
All of this paints the picture of a phone that can take ultra-wide, class-leading photos in any condition. Hopefully these samples are indicative of the final image quality rather than the result of heavy editing.
