Haryana reported one more coronavirus-related death and 26 new cases, nine of them from Gurugram, on Friday, bringing the number of cases to 639 in the state, authorities said. After including 14 Italian citizens, the state count will be 653.
The virus also entered Rewari on Friday, with three cases. Now, there is no district that has not reported a Covid case. The state’s doubling rate reached eight days. It was 21 days on May 2.
In addition to Gurugram, four cases were reported from Sonepat, three from Faridabad, Jind and Rewari, two from Panipat and one from Rohtak and Jhajjar. The nine Gurugram cases include two health workers and the same number of social workers.
Panipat recorded one more death, bringing Covid’s figure in the district to three. He had also reported a death on Thursday. The latest death is of a 20-year-old woman from the Gokul colony in Sector 11 in the city of Panipat. She tested positive on May 2 and died during treatment at Bhagat Phool Singh Medical College in Khanpur Kalan. She was a tuberculosis patient. A 25-year-old young worker living in the vegetable market also tested positive. It is a close contact of a man who tested positive before.
The three Faridabad cases include a 21-year-old pregnant woman from the Dabua colony. She had reported for a regular checkup at ESI Hospital a few days ago and was recommended a Covid test based on her symptoms. The second patient is a 22-year-old woman who works as a receptionist in a private diagnostic laboratory in Sector 16 of the city. The NIT area resident had contacted a security guard who tested positive last week. The third case is a 37-year-old man who is engaged in the vegetable trade at Mujesar Mandi here. He reportedly contracted the disease from another provider who was found infected a few days ago.
In Jind, three family members, an 11-year-old boy, a 49-year-old woman and a 71-year-old man, tested positive. Previously, a 26-year-old man from this family had tested positive.
In Sonepat, a 63-year-old fruit trader from Ashok Nagar in the Gannaur market and a 53-year-old vegetable vendor from the Shastri colony in Gannaur tested positive. The 27-year-old wife and three-year-old son of a Delhi police officer who died in Delhi from Covid also tested positive on Friday.
A vegetable vendor tested positive in Bahadurgarh (Jhajjar) and also a 59-year-old woman from the Shiv colony, Rohtak. The woman was in Delhi recently to receive treatment from her husband in a private hospital.
In better news, 14 people were discharged from the hospital on Friday, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 265. After including 14 Italian citizens, who took treatment at Medanta Hospital and were cured, the recovery rate reached 43.12 percent today.
