In an unexpected move, the Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP) led by Upendra Kushwaha announced on Tuesday that the party will participate in the Bihar Assembly elections alongside the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Janwadi Socialist Party.
The candidate nomination process for the first phase of the state elections will begin in two days.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the dates for the 2020 Bihar elections at a press conference on September 25. The assembly elections in Bihar will take place in three phases. In the first phase, elections will be held in 71 constituencies of the Assembly. In the second, 94 Assembly constituencies will go to the polls and voting will take place in 78 Assembly constituencies in the final phase.
On Tuesday, ICE announced the dates for by-elections scheduled to take place in several states. This comes after Chief Elections Commissioner (CEC) Sunil Arora said on Friday that the electoral body would hold a meeting on September 29 on by-elections.
