Uttar Pradesh Prime Minister Yogi Adityanath has reiterated his commitment to firmly treat those accused of slaughtering cows within the parameters of the law. Speaking Tuesday at a rally ahead of the Nov.3 general election in the state, he called the slaughter of cows unacceptable.
Adityanath’s comments came a day after the Allahabad High Court raised concerns about the misuse of the law against cow slaughter in Uttar Pradesh and the incrimination of people by granting bail to a Rahmuddin, that he was in jail for alleged slaughter of cattle and sale of beef since then. The court granted Rahmuddin bail after he alleged that there were no specific charges against him in the first information report filed in the case.
