Sourav Ganguly Health Update

On Sourav Ganguly’s health, the hospital stated in a bulletin: “He passed an uneventful night and now he is Afebrile (not feverish) … Now he is sleeping.”

His blood pressure was 110/70 and his oxygen saturation level is 98 percent, according to the bulletin, according to PTI. Doctors will perform another routine ECG on Sunday morning.

Ganguly had been admitted Saturday after complaining of chest pain.

Dr Aftab Khan from Woodlands Hospital told reporters: “Sourav Ganguly has undergone angioplasty. He is now stable. He will be monitored for 24 hours.”

“He is fully conscious. There are two blocks in his heart that he will be treated for.”

The doctor said: “From now on he is stable, we will have a meeting on Monday and then we will decide what should be done more, the priority is to let him calm down after the heart attack. He is risk free and he is talking too.”

Doctors diagnosed three blocked coronary arteries and inserted a stent to remove the blockage.

“He will need another angioplasty due to three-vessel disease. But that depends on how his condition is. However, he is now out of danger,” one of the doctors treating him said Saturday.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also visited him and shared that the former captain of India spoke with him and he was fine.

Interacting with the media while leaving the hospital, Banerjee said: “He (Sourav Ganguly) is fine now, he even spoke to me. I thank the doctors and hospital authorities for making the right decision to perform angioplasty.”

“I had no idea that international athletes like him would not undergo checkups. I asked Avishek Dalmiya to carry out medical checkups on cricketers before games,” he said.

West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar had previously said: “I interacted with Dada (Sourav), he was in a good mood. I am very relieved,” he said.

Considered among the best captains in India and a hitter with limited overs, Sourav Ganguly scored more than 18,000 runs for India. As captain, he won 21 events and 76 internationals in one day. After numerous positions in the Bengal Cricket Association, he was elected BCCI President in October 2019.
