After the announcement, President-elect Joe Biden said the news about the second vaccine is all the more reason to be hopeful, but warned that it is still months away before it becomes available. Biden took to Twitter to warn that Americans should continue to wear masks and practice social distancing to control the virus.

The United States remains the most affected country in terms of overall coronavirus cases and related deaths.
