New Delhi:

A 25-year-old woman holding her son was stabbed to death during a robbery attempt in northwest Delhi, police said. The incident was captured by a closed circuit television camera in the capital town of Adarsh Nagar. This is at least the second such incident reported from the city in the last two days.

Police arrested two men, Mohammed Aqibul and Sheikh Fardeen, in connection with the murder. They have several other cases registered against him. They are being questioned.

Police said the woman, identified only as Simran, was stabbed while trying to resist an attempt to take him away. She was returning home from a market and was holding her son when the incident occurred around 9:30 pm on Saturday.

CCTV footage clearly shows two women walking when a person approaches them from behind and tries to snatch a chain from one of them. When facing resistance, he stabs one of the women with a knife and leaves.

Ms. Kaur had come to the national capital last week to meet her older sister, who was visiting from Canada.

“Simran came to Delhi last week to meet her older sister, Pooja, who lives in Canada. Her in-laws live in Patiala and she came with her parents to Delhi. She was on her way to buy medicine when the incident happened.” her aunt was quoted by the PTI news agency.

Residents of the town have denounced that there have been several incidents of abductions in the area in recent times but that the police have not intensified the patrol, ANI reported.

A 17-year-old was admitted to the Trauma Center of the Indian Institute of Medical Sciences on Friday after being beaten and stabbed by three children in the Kalkaji area of the capital. He was attacked for opposing the three defendants following his sister and making indecent comments to her. Five people were arrested for the incident. The Delhi Women’s Commission (DCW) learned of its motorcycle in the case, issuing a notice to the area’s Station House Officer (SHO), ANI reported.

“The girl has reportedly claimed that when she approached the police to file the complaint, the police officers refused to take any action. This is a very serious matter. The Delhi Women’s Commission Act 1994 it orders the Commission to investigate and examine all matters related to the safeguards provided for women in the Constitution and to give recommendations to the government on the issue of women’s safety, ”says the DCW notice.
