Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah said today that he will leave his government accommodation in Srinagar before the end of October. The leader of the National Conference shared his letter to the administration of the territory of the union, written in July.
“I am going to vacate my government accommodation in Srinagar before the end of October. The point to keep in mind is that, contrary to the stories sown in the media last year, I did not receive any eviction notice and I have decided to do it for myself. own will (sic), “Abdullah wrote on Twitter, sharing a photo of his letter to the official in charge of property, hospitality and protocol in Jammu and Kashmir.
Abdullah, 50, said that he was assigned accommodation in the Srinagar VVIP area of Gupkar Raod in 2002 when he was a deputy for the Srinagar constituency. He said that he used the compound and the adjoining house as the official residence of the Chief Minister from Cotober 2010 until January 2015, when he resigned because “the rules allowed me to retain accommodation in Srinagar or Jammu and I chose to retain accommodation in Srinagar.”

“As a consequence of the change of the rights of the former CMs in Jammu and Kashmir a few months ago, I now find myself in unauthorized occupation of this accommodation, as no attempt has been made to regularize my assignment for security and other reasons. motives, “Abdullah said. said in his writer. “This is a situation that is unacceptable to me. I have never held onto any government property that I was not entitled to and I have no intention of starting now,” he said.
Abdullah’s letter in July said that the process of finding alternative accommodation was taking time due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Omar Abdullah was released after nearly eight months in detention in Srinagar on March 24. Days earlier, his father and former Union Minister, Farooq Abdullah, was also released from house arrest. Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti remains in detention. All three were among hundreds of political leaders detained prior to the revocation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status.
