On Saturday, Mr. Prasad responded to a call from PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti for a new push against the central government on Article 370 and other issues related to Jammu and Kashmir.
The minister said that not only would a special status not be restored to the region, as Ms Mufti demanded, but also that her comments on the national flag were “a frank denunciation”.
Prasad also said that J & K’s special status, which was removed in August last year and followed by the prolonged detention of political leaders in the region, as well as a massive security blanket to prevent backlash and protests, was revoked after a proper constitutional process. .

A day earlier, Ms Mufti, in her first press conference since being released from 14 months in detention, said that she would not raise the national flag until the flag, constitution and status of Jammu and Kashmir (as in article 370).
In a scathing attack on the center, he called them “thieves” who had stolen constitutionally guaranteed rights. Mufti also said his party would not “abandon the constitutional battle” to claim a special status that had been withdrawn by the center.
Hours later, BJP and Congressional leaders at J&K reacted strongly to his comments.
J&K BJP president Ravinder Raina demanded that the former chief minister be searched for a “seditious act and put behind bars.” Congressional spokesman Ravinder Sharma said such statements were “intolerable and unacceptable.”
Currently, the Supreme Court is hearing multiple petitions filed by various major J&K political parties, including the National Conference, against the central government’s decision to revoke the special status for the previous state.
Along with the revocation of the special status, the central government also divided J&K into two union territories.
