The office of Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi was sealed on Friday for violating Covid-19 regulations after a video emerged of the BJP leader celebrating her birthday on October 8 with the attendance of nearly 100 women.
The Odisha Interior Minister has also written to the Home Union Minister of State Nityananda Rai informing him of Sarangi’s violation of Covid-19 regulations.
The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and police personnel sealed off Sarangi office for 15 days.
Deputy Zone Commissioner Rabi Narayan Jethy, who led the team, said: “… there was a big gathering and not many people were seen wearing masks or maintaining social distancing during the celebration. Everyone who was present will be screened for Covid-19 and the building will be disinfected. We have asked for a list of those attending the celebration before Friday. “
Meanwhile, in his letter to Union Minister Rai, Odisha Interior Minister Dibyashankar Mishra wrote: “I would not have warned you of this if it had been the first time that the Honorable MP openly violated Covid guidelines. . Despite repeated warnings, warnings and reservations in at least three cases … there is no improvement in behavior. “Sarangi accused the ruling BJD in the state of” vindictive policy. “
