With 720 out of 720 marks, 18-year-old Soyeb Aftab hit the mark on this year’s NEET, leading the coveted undergraduate medical course entrance exam.
From Rourkela in Odisha, Soyeb wants to be a cardiac surgeon when he finishes his medical studies.
Taking the exam amid the coronavirus pandemic had its pressures, Soyeb said, but she used the lockdown to study further.
“I haven’t been back to my hometown since 2018,” Soyeb said. “I stayed in Kota with my mother and my younger sister to study,” he added.
While most of the students in Kota requested to return home during the lockdown, Soyeb stayed with her mother and sister to keep her nose on the grinding stone and continue her training classes at the Allen Career Institute in Kota, her colleagues said. parents.
And it has certainly paid off, as Soyeb Aftab managed to get the perfect score, a record for the first time in the country.
With brands like these, Soyeb should have no trouble getting into the leading Indian Institutes of Medical Sciences or AIIMS, where she wants to specialize in cardiac surgery.
Soyeb’s father runs a construction business and has a younger sister. The family said they now plan to visit the dargah in Ajmer Sharif to give thanks.
A pencil and paper based test unlike the JEE engineering entrance exam, NEET results were announced on Friday with over 7.7 lakh of candidates passing the test this year.
Almost 16 lakh students had registered to sit for the test which was postponed twice this year due to the pandemic. The exam was originally scheduled for May 3, but was postponed to July 26 and then to September 13.
Students who missed the exam on the date due to COVID-19 restrictions were able to take the exam on Wednesday.
