LIVE UPDATES for the JEE Main 2020 exam: After being postponed twice, the Joint Entrance Exam -JEE Main takes place today. Images from all over India suggest that students have made it to the exam rooms, however today is the BArch exam and a large majority of students will sit for the exams starting tomorrow when the entrance exams will take place by BTech.
In a major announcement today, just half an hour before the examination began, the Nagpur court of the Bombay High Court said that students residing in flood-affected areas in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra can approach the Agency National Testing Agency (NTA), if they were unable to get to the test center or were late. The court also asked the NTA to verify the veracity of the claims and decide its representation within 15 days.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the exam is carried out amid special arrangements, from no thick-soled shoes to mandatory masks in the exam room; the NTA has made various arrangements. More than 10 lakh of masks, 10 lakh of pairs of gloves, 1,300 infrared thermometer guns, 6,600 liters of hand sanitizer and an equal amount of sanitizing liquid, 6,600 sponges, 3,300 spray bottles and 3,300 cleaning staff have been organized to an additional cost of almost Rs 13 crore. The exam will be held at 660 centers across the country, which was increased from 570.
