JEE Main Result 2020 Live Updates – NTA Likely to Announce Result Today, Know How to Download

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to declare the result of the main Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) today, September 11, 2020, less than a week after the exams end. The national entrance test for admission to undergraduate programs in engineering, architecture and planning, the JEE Main was held from September 1-6. According to official information, more than 8.58 lakh of candidates had registered for the exams, but given the COVID-19 pandemic. and floods, around 6.35 lakh – less than 75% – finally wrote the exam. Held twice a year, the first JEE Main was held in January. The second JEE Main 2020, to be held in April, was rescheduled multiple times due to the coronavirus outbreak.
JEE Main 2020 finally took place in September after the Supreme Court cleared the way on August 17. Students and the governments of six opposition-run states had opposed testing during the pandemic and floods. They defied the NTA exam schedule in court, seeking a postponement. However, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the NTA and over the next several weeks, it also denied multiple requests to review that order and postpone JEE Main 2020 and NEET 2020 for admission to medicine.
The examinations were carried out with the state and central government ministries that took special measures by providing public transportation, opening hotels and hostels, and operating special trains for applicants.

JEE 2020 Main Outcome: Eligibility Criteria Changed
The eligibility criteria for admission to NIT, IIIT and CFTI have been relaxed due to the crisis caused by COVID-19. The pandemic disrupted board examinations in all states and therefore candidates no longer need to score a minimum score of 75% (for general candidates) on their board exams for admission to IIIT, NIT and CFTI. NTA JEE 2020 Top Result: September Test Centers
There were 605 test centers for the September JEE core exam for the B.Tech and BE programs, and 489 Paper-II exam centers for the B.Arch and B.Planning programs. There were centers in 232 cities.

NTA JEE 2020 Main Result: States and Institutions
JEE core scores are used for admission to the 31 National Institutes of Technology (NIT), 25 Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIIT), engineering programs at 28 centrally funded technical institutions (CFTI) and serve as a round Preliminary tests to enter the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT). The answer key for the September JEE Main 2020 was released on the evening of September 8. The candidates had until September 10 to question it. NTA reduced the fee charged for each contested response from Rs 1,000 to Rs 200.

Result of JEE Mains 2020 and COVID-19
The second JEE Main session was originally scheduled for April, but was postponed several times due to COVId-19. Each time after rescheduling, NTA reopened the “correction window” for applications, allowing registered candidates to change their choice of test center city. The closure of COVID-19 had caused thousands of candidates to leave towns and cities where they were preparing for the exam and return to their places of origin. In August, the NTA said that more than 99% of candidates had been assigned the exam city of their choice.

JEE Main 2020: January and September Rounds
JEE Main takes place twice a year. Thanks to COVID-19, the September round was very different from the first in January. The NTA increased the number of test centers from 570 in January to 660 in September to allow for social distancing among candidates. However, the number of test takers was 10.66,450 (more than 10.66 lakh) in January, compared to 6.35 lakh who finally wrote the test in September.
