Want to buy an offline phone, but don’t want to leave your home? No problem. Vivo India launched a smart retail system on Sunday that allows people to do that in light of the restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic that begins to escalate in the green and orange zones.
With this new system, interested buyers must send their inquiries to Vivo by SMS, the company’s website or Facebook page, and one of the 30,000 Vivo brand ambassadors (VBA) will connect with the person to understand your requirements and help him / her buy the phone from one of the 20,000 retailers in India. SMS-based connectivity is already operational, while the other two platforms will be available to customers before May 12, according to Vivo India.
“Most consumers in India still prefer to shop offline. However, considering the lockout and the post-lockdown scenario, some consumers may be cautious of pulling out. So we have developed a platform that meets customer needs and also helps retailers resume business as usual, “Nipun Marya, Director of Brand Strategy, Vivo India, told IANS.
“There is a lead management system that we have established. Before passing the lead to the retailer, we will check to see if it is hot lead, qualified lead, or if this customer is not interested. In case you’re a potential customer or a qualified potential customer, which means this customer really wants a phone, we will tell the retailer the requirement and ask them to close the transaction, ”said Marya.
This system is only for those who do not want to go out and buy a phone due to some concerns. Those who want to go out and buy a phone will still be able to do so. But since manufacturing remained closed in April, how does the company plan to meet demand? “Our channels always have a few days of inventory. At both the retail and distributor levels, there is always an accumulation of inventory.
“The amount of inventory and the number of days that will last depends on the type of claims we receive and how soon we receive that claim and what are the instructions given by the authority regarding our manufacturing plants and whatnot,” Marya said.
“In a few days we will know what kind of demand we are obtaining and we will know how long any limited inventory we have will last. We’ll know that once the market begins to reopen. “On the manufacturing side too, we are waiting for more details from the government. Once these details are available, we will take more calls, “he said.
