Madhya Pradesh Minister of Women and Child Development Imarti Devi, caught in the eye of a storm following the comment on the “article” by MPCC chief Kamal Nath, appears to be headed for trouble. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has sharpened its attack on Congress over Nath’s comment and has accused him of insulting a Dalit woman. The party has also filed complaints with various constitutional bodies, including the National Commission for Women. Notably, on Wednesday, the Election Commission of India also requested an explanation from Nath about his comments and gave him 48 hours.
But now, a video has appeared on social media in which Imarti Devi appears to be involved in a tirade against Nath for his comment. When the video ends, the minister makes a controversial comment against Nath’s family. “He (Nath) is a Bengal man who came to Madhya Pradesh to become prime minister and has no manners on how to speak. What can you say to such a man? He has lost his mental composure after losing the post of prime minister … His mother and sister could be the subject of Bengal (sic), “the minister can be heard saying in the 30-second video clip shared on Twitter by Acharya Pramod Krishnam., Who in the past has contested the Lok Sabha polls on a Congressional party ballot.
The video was shared on the microblogging site by Pramod Krishnam along with the caption: “Kind words from Imarti Devi to Kamal Nath, ten-time Lok Sabha member, and his late mother.” However, it is not clear when and where Imarti Devi made these statements. The BJP and Congress have yet to react to the video.
In another development, the dispute continued to gain traction when a BJP candidate in the upcoming by-elections issued a threat to Nath. Girraj Dandotiya, a minister in Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s government, commenting on Nath’s ‘article’ comment against Imarti Devi, said that if the leader of Congress had made the comments in Dimni instead of Dabra, then the leader would have been murdered. Dandotiya was previously a member of the military justice in the government led by Kamal Nath in Madhya Pradesh.
Held at Kmatari in Dimni, the political meeting was also attended by BJP Rajya Sabha MP Jyotiraditya Scindia. The minister said: “You know what Kamal Nath has said in Dabra, if someone had said this against the mothers and sisters of Chambal, they would have left him dead from here. It was good, Kamal Nath was in Dabra. She is a SC caste woman but mothers and sisters can be of any caste, they belong to us, “said Dandotiya.
After his remarks, congressional workers staged an evening protest at Morena’s collector’s office and delivered a memorandum to senior officials against the minister of state. “CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan and the BJP head of state must make it clear whether they agree with Dandotiya’s comments, and if not, the man must be removed from the cabinet immediately,” said Congressional media coordinator Narendra. Hello. By demanding a case against the minister, Congress has stated that it would move EC on the matter.
