Dominick Reyes rocked the world when he came face to face with Jon “Bones” Jones. While the UFC Universe expected Reyes to put on a spectacular show, no one could have thought that it would give Jone Jones a run for his money.
The two met in the UFC 247 main event. The fight lasted the entire duration of 5 rounds. While Jones was victorious by unanimous decision, many believe he almost lost that day.
Immediately after the fight, Jones told The Devastator that his rematch would be epic. And that is just what Reyes plans to deliver. An epic performance.
In an interview with The Score, Reyes shared his plans for the rematch with Jon Jones. He said,
“One thing I would like to improve [is that] I would like to knock him out. I mean, I touched it. Getting into the fight was like, ‘Will I be able to touch this guy? He is very long. Am I going to get to him? And it was. And I can. Pretty easy. So now, I’m going to knock him out. “
“I am still very young in this game” – Dominick Reyes
During the interview, the interviewer revisited Jones against Reyes. Speaking about what he learned from the fight and what new additions to his routine will be reflected in the rematch, Reyes said:
“I’m still very young in this game, man. I’m getting better every day. That’s the best part! Brother, I’m an iceberg man. You guys haven’t seen all I have to offer yet. I’m excited for that. I’m growing up. every day Obviously my cardio is getting better. [Then], I’m getting stronger. “
It seems that Reyes is going with everything for his rematch with Jones. He even stated that he could bring other Team Quest teammates and even Team Elevation to practice. Some names he mentioned were Andrew Capel, Sam Alvey, and Jamal Pogues.
Regarding the rematch timeline, Reyes believes that is the next move for him in the UFC. While the match could have taken place in the coming months, he believes the coronavirus has delayed the match until late fall / December.
Do you think Reyes will be able to beat Jon Jones in the rematch?
