A week after partially lifting the blockade of the restrictions in the national capital of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday addressed the media and said that the coronavirus of the situation in the city is under control, although the cases are on the rise. The prime minister said that the situation would have been worrisome if the Covid-19 number of deaths was high in the national capital, or the majority of the positive cases were severe in nature.

“Serious Covid-19 patients require oxygen, therefore the availability of beds is very critical,” the prime minister said.

“Around 4,000 hospital beds available with the government, around 1,500 are occupied, while about 2,500 beds unoccupied,” Kejriwal said.
In the private hospitals, 509 of the total of 677 beds are occupied by coronavirus of patients today. Kejriwal said that 117 private hospitals across the national capital have been directed to maintain 20% of its beds reserved for Covid-19 patients.
“This will lead to the availability of more than 2,000 beds for Covid-19 patients,” he said.
The prime minister said that the majority of new cases of coronavirus are showing mild symptoms or asymptomatic. More than 3,000 active cases are being treated at home.
“Patients with mild symptoms or without symptoms are treated at home and are not admitted in the hospitals. There are 3,414 such Covid-19 patients who are receiving treatment in the home,” Kejriwal said.
The Delhi CM said that relaxations in lockdown is announced in Delhi, May 17, after the administration expected an increase in Covid-19 cases. “A week later, I can say that the situation is under control and there is nothing to panic,” the chief of ministers said.
He said that in the last week, the national capital, reported around cool 3,500 Covid-19 cases, while nearly 1,500 patients have recovered.
“Fresh cases reported, but patients are also recovering and going home,” he said. “As many as 1,750 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospital on 17 May. The figure has risen to 2,000 in the present day. Only 250 new patients have occupied beds in the various hospitals in one week,” he said.
Kejriwal, said that because most cases are mild or asymptomatic, the burden of Covid-19 patients in the hospitals is not serious. “However, we are prepared if there is a peak in severe cases of coronavirus of patients,” he said.
More than 13,000 coronavirus patients in Delhi, Kejriwal said nearly half have been restored and half of them are still being treated. Two hundred and sixty one persons have succumbed to death.
