Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday that the world is now paying more attention to India and that her voice is being heard globally.
“The world is now paying more attention to India, and we have a strong presence in most of the global bodies,” the Prime Minister said as he virtually addressed a book launch event.
He also praised the media for serving people in an “unprecedented way” by spreading awareness about the coronavirus pandemic, saying that like Indian products, the media must also go global. “Not only Indian products, but the voice of India has also gone global, Indian media must also be global,” he said.
“Although the media is also criticized at times, more so in this age of social media, everyone should learn from criticism,” he said, adding that this is what makes India’s democracy strong.

He also noted how the Indian freedom struggle movement became associated with literature. “In our country, writing has continually developed with indigence and nationality. During the fight for freedom, almost all the big names were associated with writing somewhere. We have had great saints, scientists and writers known for their literary contributions, ”he said.
The Prime Minister said that writers are like the driving forces of any society. Books and authors play an important role in guiding the masses as schooling ends, but the learning process lasts for centuries, he said.
He also warned the youth of the country saying: “Today, in this era of texting and tweeting, it is more important that our new generation does not run away from serious knowledge.”
