India and Australia are ready to renew their rivalry when they meet in a full series that will last around 2 months. India will play 3 T20, 3 ODI and 4 Tests as they seek to stamp their authority over their rivals. The last time India toured Australia, it managed to win the Test Series for the first time in its history. But two of Australia’s top hitters were missing from the action. David Warner and Steve Smith were unable to participate in the series as they faced a one-year suspension due to ball handling.
But this year, Smith is ready to take on the music. Look forward to the competition provided by Indian pacemakers. And Smith doesn’t back down from the challenge. Smith has challenged the deadly Indian fast bowling unit to bring in the short material in the next series of marquee tests, saying he has faced many of them in his lifetime.
According to the former captain, trying to play short bowling against him could work in Australia’s favor.
“If teams are trying to get me out like that, it’s probably a huge benefit to the team because it takes a lot out of people’s bodies if it continually falls short,” Smith told News Corp.
“I have faced a lot of short bowls in my life and I haven’t had too much stress with them. I guess we’ll just wait and see. “
Against New Zealand in the 2019-2020 season, Smith was fired by left arm pacemaker Neil Wagner four times as the New Zealander constantly attacked the batter with short pitches aimed at his body.
Smith, however, managed to average nearly 43 in all three games and exhausted the bowlers with his tenacious focus in the middle, helping the others rack up runs.
“They are not dramas for me. I just play and summarize the conditions, how they try to get me out and be able to counter that, ”Smith said.
He acknowledged that Wagner executed it well, but others may not be able to replicate that.
“I mean, a few different oppositions have tried it and it has certainly been more difficult (to execute) like Wagner did. He has an amazing skill set where his speed goes up and down … it’s all between your ribs and your head. “
Indian will play three ODIs, three T20s and four Tests starting Nov. 27. The ODI and T20 series will be played in Sydney and Canberra from November 27 to December 8.
The long-awaited series of tests begins with the day-night test in Adelaide from December 17th.
The Indian attack will be comprised of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami in the lead roles. Tourists will flock to Ishant Sharma if he recovers from a lateral injury sustained in the IPL. Umesh Yadav and the promising Navdeep Saini are also part of the Indian test team.
Smith was not part of the previous series between the two teams as he was serving his one-year suspension for the ball-handling scandal.
