Around 37,000 Odisha candidates who would write the National Cum Income Eligibility Exam (NEET) and Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) between September 1 and 13 would have to follow safety rules such as physical distancing, personal hygiene, mask inside of exam rooms due to the Covid-19 pandemic, authorities said.
The additional chief secretary (health department), PK Mohapatra, said that all candidates will have to follow safety rules, such as physical distancing, personal hygiene, wearing masks, etc. within test centers. District authorities will also ensure the implementation of these standards off-site, he said.
Copy of the candidates’ admission card, including electronic copies or any other documents in the possession of the candidates and any documents in the possession of the examining staff and the staff / representatives of the service providers in support of their deployment, will be considered as your valid statewide vehicle pass.

All candidates, together with their tutor, if any, as well as the examining staff, can travel from their place of stay to the exam centers, either in their vehicles or in a public or rented service vehicle.
Authorities said the candidates would also be subjected to a heat screen before entering the hallways. While the JEE-Mains exams will take place between September 1-6, the NEET is scheduled for September 13. In Odisha, JEE Mains will take place at 26 centers in 7 cities.
The government said there will be no lockdown or shutdown in the 7 cities where the exams will take place. The cities are Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Berhampur, Balasore, Sambalpur, Angul and Rourkela. Consequently, the weekend closure would not apply in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Berhampur, Balasore, Sambalpur and Rourkela on August 30.
On Friday, the Odisha government had said that if any of the 37,000 state candidates taking the exams needed transportation and accommodation, the state government would provide it.
“The government will provide buses to transport candidates from their hometown to designated entry points. But students must apply for government facilities before August 31, “said Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy.
