New Delhi:
Facing the heat from the ongoing six-week farmer turmoil, Haryana’s Senior Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Senior Deputy Minister Dushyant Chautala said Tuesday that there is no threat to the BJP-JJP coalition government and which will complete its full five-year term.
After an hour-long meeting with the Union Minister of the Interior, Amit Shah, both Mr. Khattar and Mr. Chautala said that they had discussed the prevailing public order situation in the state.
“There is no threat to the Haryana government, and it will last its full five-year term,” Chautala told PTI.
Mr Khattar also said: “There is no point speculating on the future of this government, it will complete its term.”
The chief minister said that Haryana is the epicenter of the farmers’ unrest, so they discussed with the interior minister about the law and order situation in the state.
“We also talked about holding the celebrations on January 26 without any problems,” he said.
Khattar said that after the Supreme Court suspended the implementation of the farm laws, they were hopeful that farmers would put an end to their agitation.
“It is a national festival and everyone understands its importance and the value attached to it,” he said.
Chautala said the Supreme Court has established a committee and hopes that things will be resolved soon.
Both Haryana leaders met with Shah hours after the high court suspended the implementation of three controversial farm laws until further orders and decided to set up a committee to resolve the deadlock between the Center and protesting farmers’ unions on the Delhi borders. .
The state presidents of BJP, JJP and ministers of the state cabinet were also present at the meeting with the interior minister.
Before meeting Amit Shah, Dushyant Chautala met with the MLAs from his JJP party at a country house, where one section of the MLA said it would cost the ruling alliance a lot if the laws were not repealed.
Khattar had to cancel a public meeting in Karnal on Sunday after the site was looted by protesting farmers.
A section of the MLAs belonging to the Jannayak Janta Party, headed by Mr. Chautala, is believed to have faced pressure from farmer agitators.
