No sixes in past 10: Yuvraj Singh hits Greg Chappell’s statement about “game on the ground” – cricket

Greg Chappell is a name in Indian cricket that everyone would like to forget. His stint as head coach was clouded by controversy, as most cricket players lamented his ways and strategy at the time. His problems with former captain Sourav Ganguly are well known, and in recent years other cricketers have also come out to criticize the great Australian. However, Chappell recently made the news when he spoke about MS Dhoni’s early days on the national team.

Chappell had stated in an interview that he used to advise young Dhoni to play more on the ground rather than trying to hit every ball to the limit. That interview elicited a strong response from Harbhajan Singh, who said the former coach was playing different games.

Now Yuvraj Singh also came out and spoke about the statement, inferring that Chappell asked him and Dhoni not to hit any sixes in the last 10 overs.

Ganguly was not the only one who struggled with the former Australian hitter. Harbhajan, outside of India’s spinner, on Wednesday called the Chappell era the worst days of Indian cricket.

In response to a Hindustantimes.com article, Harbhajan tweeted, “He asked Dhoni to play on the ground because the coach was hitting everyone in the park … He was playing different games.” He followed his tweet with a hashtag #worstdaysofindiancricketundergreg.

Chappell, who became India’s head coach in May 2005, resigned in 2007 just two days after claiming he will not. Chappell had sent an email to BCCI in April 2007 to announce his sudden resignation.

Under Chappell, India withdrew from the group stages of the 2007 ODI World Cup, but also held the record for winning the most ODI while chasing at the time.
