On Thursday, the Indian military refuted reports of attacks on suspected terror launch pads within Pakistani-occupied Kashmir. “Reports of the action of the Indian army in Pakistani-occupied Kashmir (PoK) through the Line of Control are false,” said the director general of military operations of the Indian army, Lieutenant General Paramjit Singh. There have been no shots fired throughout the LoC, the Army has clarified after a news agency report said the Army has launched “targeted attacks” inside Pakistani-occupied Kashmir.
On Thursday, security forces shot dead four terrorists in an encounter on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway near Nagrota in Jammu.
The specific report of “one-off attacks” came just a week after five security personnel and four civilians were killed in the Pakistani aggression in various locations (Uri, Nowgam, Keran and Gurez sectors in northern Kashmir) at other side of the Line of Control. The Indian Army retaliated heavily and caused substantial damage to several launch pads.
The report that the Army is carrying out attacks in PoK comes in this context amid claims that the Pakistani military is pushing maximum numbers of terrorists into India before the onset of winters. The report has been based on the analysis of the ceasefire violations that occurred on November 13, the Army has clarified.
According to official data, 21 innocent civilians have lost their lives in Pakistani shootings compared to 18 in all of 2019. This year eight infiltration attempts were thwarted and 14 terrorists have been neutralized throughout the LoC, according to official data.
