Shiv Sena and the Maharashtra unit of the Congress party have upped the ante on actor Kangana Ranaut’s comments equating Mumbai with Pakistani-occupied Kashmir (PoK) by attacking the actor and the Bharatiya Janata Party, which has been defending it.
Sena leader Sanjay Raut said the political party backing Ranaut for the comments has no right to seek votes in Mumbai. Congressional Secretary and Spokesperson Sachin Sawant alleged that Kangana’s Twitter account is managed by the BJP’s TI cell and that Devendra Fadnavis and the state BJP should issue an unconditional apology for the matter.
In a tweet, Ranaut accused Raut of threatening her. She alleged that Raut had openly threatened her not to return to Mumbai if she did not have faith in the Mumbai police. Kangana also added that Mumbai now looks like Pakistani-occupied Kashmir to him. The tweet read: “Sanjay Raut, leader of Shiv Sena, has openly threatened me and asked me not to return to Mumbai, after Aazadi graffiti on the streets of Mumbai and now open threats, why does Mumbai feel like Pakistan occupied Kashmir? “
Without naming the actress, the Sena leader said that Ranaut’s statements questioning the capacity and intent of the Mumbai police is a “systemic campaign” to smear the city police.
“The Mumbai police have constantly saved the city in all kinds of challenges, including 1992 riots, terrorist attacks, etc. If some people not related to Mumbai make such statements, then this is a systemic campaign to smear the Mumbai police. The state interior minister and the chief of police must crack down, otherwise the morale of the Mumbai police will suffer. “
Sawant said that Kangana Team, the actor’s official name, stands for “Kangana + BJP IT Cell.” “For the past few days, Kangana Ranaut, through IT Cell, has been continuously smearing the Mumbai police. Now, he has compared Mumbai to Pakistani-occupied Kashmir and insulted Maharashtra.
