US President-elect Joe Biden shared his thoughts on the importance of outgoing President Donald Trump attending the inauguration ceremony scheduled for January 20. In an interview with CNN, broadcast on Thursday, Biden said it would only be important to show that there is a transfer of power between competing parties shaking hands and moving forward.
“There is no personal consequence for me but for the country,” said the Democrat, highlighting the importance of a demonstration of peaceful transfer of power in his inauguration.
Biden also expressed concern about the “image” of the United States being presented to the rest of the world, saying such controversies around the transfer of power occur in countries under dictatorship.

Meanwhile, Trump has continued his unproven claims of voter fraud and has refused to admit defeat in the recently concluded presidential election. The president of the United States has now claimed that people in Georgia were caught bringing ballots and putting them in voting machines.
“The people of Georgia went cold as they brought in massive amounts of ballots and put them in ‘voting’ machines. Good work @BrianKempGA! Trump tweeted, as he continues to target the Governor of Georgia for helping him with the outcome. The tweet was quickly flagged by the microblogging platform as “disputed.”
Trump had previously asked why Brian Kemp, a fellow Republican, did not use his “emergency powers” to overturn the secretary of state’s decision. He had also suggested that officials check the number of envelopes against the number of ballots, claiming that they “can find” more ballots than the envelopes received. “
Biden has received more than 81 million popular votes in the presidential election, the highest in US history, and is expected to garner 306 electoral votes to Trump’s 232. It has already begun nominating key members of the Biden-Harris Administration as it faces the immense challenges posed by the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
