Prime Minister Narendra Modi said no one could monitor the property of beneficiaries of the Village Survey and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas (SVAMITVA) scheme after launching the physical distribution of property cards on Sunday.
These cards are physical copies of the title deeds to the villagers’ houses and the surrounding areas they own (as opposed to cultivated land). According to the scheme, parcels of land in rural areas were mapped using drones. This will aid in revenue collection and ensure clarity on property rights in rural areas.
“When you become the owner of your home, self-respect is restored. You feel safe and strong, ”Prime Minister Modi said while interacting with the beneficiaries of the scheme.
The SVAMITVA scheme aims to create accurate land documentation, reduce disputes related to ownership, and increase the liquidity of land parcels.
The scheme’s pilot project is being implemented in up to 763 villages, including 346 in Uttar Pradesh, 221 in Haryana, 100 in Maharashtra, 44 in Madhya Pradesh, 50 in Uttarakhand and two in Karnataka.
Uttar Pradesh Prime Minister Yogi Adityanath, Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar and Uttarakhand CM Trivendra Singh Yadav were also present at the event.
