PatnaAmid speculation that he will no longer serve as Bihar’s chief deputy minister, BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi said on Sunday that no one could take away his position as a party worker.

Even when there is no official announcement regarding the appointment of the senior deputy minister, Modi took to Twitter to congratulate BJP MLA members Tarkishore Prasad and Renu Devi, who were allegedly assigned the position, according to sources.

“In the political life of 40 years, the BJP and the Sangh Parivar have given me so much that someone else would have received. In the future as well, I will fulfill whatever responsibility you give me. No one can take away my position as a party worker, ”he said in a tweet, roughly translated from Hindi,

Nitish will remain Bihar CM

Earlier in the day, the NDA in Bihar unanimously elected Nitish Kumar as its leader in the state legislature, paving the way for his fourth consecutive term as Chief Minister.

After being elected leader of the NDA, Kumar met with Governor Phagu Chauhan to demand the formation of the new government in the state. He will be sworn in as Bihar CM on Monday night.

“The governor received the letter of support from the four components of the NDA. According to his instructions, we will take the oath at the Raj Bhavan, tomorrow around 4:30 pm,” said Kumar, who is on his way to become the Chief Minister from Bihar with more years of service.

“After the inauguration, we will convene the cabinet meeting where a decision will be made on the convening of the assembly session,” he added.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, who has been sent to Bihar as an observer for the BJP, said today that “it will be known in due course” whether Modi will revert to being deputy chief minister.

NDA sweeps Bihar polls

The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), made up of BJP and Janata Dal (United), retained power in the state with a simple majority, securing 125 seats in the 243-member state Assembly.

The BJP, which had contested 110 seats, won 74 while JD (U) led by Nitish Kumar, who fought 115, won just 43 seats against the 71 it won in the 2015 Assembly elections.

The opposition coalition, led by Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav, and also comprising Congress and left-wing parties, managed to win 110 seats in the Assembly.
