NEW DELHI: There is no hope of justice for the 19-year-old woman who died after being allegedly gang-raped and assaulted in Hathras until Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath resigns and the Supreme Court takes cognizance of the matter, the head of the Army of Bhim Chandra Shekhar Aazad he said Friday.
Azad, who was at the protest site in Jantar Mantar to demand justice for Dalit women, said that she will go to Hathras and the fighting will continue.
“The victim of Hathras cannot obtain justice until UP CM resigns and the Supreme Court takes cognizance of the matter. These types of culprits must be punished as soon as possible so that others are scared before committing such crimes,” he said, addressing the protesters.
“We will go to Hathras and until the matter reaches Delhi, there is no possibility of justice being served,” Azad added.
Civil society activists, students, women and leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party and the left parties met in the Jantar Mantar on Friday night to voice their protest against the Hathras incident.
The protest was initially supposed to take place at India Gate, but was later moved to Jantar Mantar due to the ban orders in force in the Rajpath area.
People gathered at the scene wearing masks and raising slogans demanding the resignation of the prime minister of Uttar Pradesh and justice for the victim.
