No connection to Kangana Ranaut, says NCP chief Sharad Pawar

The head of the NCP (Nationalist Congress Party), Sharad Pawar, clarified on Friday that he has no relation to the building that houses Kangana Ranaut’s office in Mumbai that was partially demolished by the BMC recently after controversial comments from the actor.

Officials from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) demolished parts of Ranaut’s property, alleging structural violations, a day after issuing a notice to him. The actress’s recent comment in which she compared Mumbai to Pakistani-occupied Kashmir and criticized the city’s police started a controversial storm in the nation, with many demonstrating in support of Ranaut.

Ranaut had reportedly said that the building that housed his office belongs to the head of NCP. Pawar, however, denied the claim.

“I have no connection to the building, which was demolished by BMC. Their accusations against me are totally false ”, said the head of NCP, quoted by ANI.

Since the demolition campaign, Ranaut has been in the midst of a political drama with the Maharashtra state government after the actor made comments about the death case of Susant Singh Rajput.

“The decision was made by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The state government had no role in it. BMC did it by following their rules and regulations, ”added Pawar.

Following the controversial dispute, the Union Ministry of the Interior provided Ranaut Y-plus category security.
