‘No BJP storm, sky is clear’: Asaduddin Owaisi reacts to Hyderabad civic poll results

When the BJP overtook All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) to become the second-largest party in the Hyderabad civic elections, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi said on Friday that the party will continue to fight against the BJP in a democratic way. Dismissing any ‘BJP storm’, Owaisi said: “Where is the storm? Had there been a storm, BJP would not have lost in the Maharashtra MLC elections. BJP had said that they would carry out a surgical attack on the old city. But they couldn’t do anything in my area. We went on a democratic strike. We argued in 51 seats and won 44. Think about what would have happened if AIMIM had contested in 80 seats. “In 2016, the party had contested 60 seats and won 44 seats, which made this year’s strike rate better. than 2016, Owaisi added.

“We are confident that the people of Telangana will prevent the BJP from expanding its presence in the state,” Owaisi said. Owai’s party, which is based in Telangana, was looking to make more profit in this year’s elections, as the party recently won five assembly seats in Bihar. However, the party maintained its stronghold and its 2016 tally: 44 seats.

“We have won 44 seats in the Hyderabad GHMC elections. I spoke with all the newly elected corporations and asked them to start working from tomorrow, ”said Owaisi.

Speaking of Telangana Rashtra Samithi, Owaisi said: “TRS in our opposition, but in Telangana, it is a formidable political party, it has to be accepted. It represents the regional sentiment of Telangana. I am sure that K Chandrashekar Rao will review the party’s performance in these elections. I’m sure it will be a great challenge for the BJP ”.

The ruling TRS emerged as the largest party to win 55 districts in the 150-district GHMC elections. The results of 149 were announced as the counting of votes had to be stopped in one room according to an order from the Superior Court. The count had to stop at the Neredmet pavilion, as marks other than the standard Swastik symbol (crossed arrow mark) were in the majority.

AIMIM was crucial in the civic elections as Owaisi was the target of several attacks by the BJP during the campaign. The BJP also alleged that TRS and AIMIM have formed a secret coalition. After Yogi Adityanath said that the BJP might think about renaming Hyderabad to Bhagyanagar, Owaisi responded by saying that the Uttar Pradesh CM generation may end, but the city will always be called Hyderabad.
