VISAKHAPATNAM: The Meteorological Department of India (IMD) has issued an ‘orange’ advisory (be prepared) to the disaster management authorities of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in view of the development cyclonic storm Nivar over the Bay of Bengal.
The impact of the storm would begin Tuesday with cloudy weather to light drizzle.
Confirming this to TOI, IMD director (for Andhra Pradesh) S Stella said that the system that appeared as ‘depression’ on Monday would cross the coast of Tamil Nadu around November 25.
“Under its influence, there would be light to extremely heavy rains on the southern coast and Rayalaseema on November 25 and 26. We have sent ‘orange’ messages to state government authorities concerned about readiness, and we also suggest that farmers start harvesting their crops and fishermen should venture out to sea until further instructions are received, ”Stella said.

Director of Telangana IMD K Nagaratna said they have already issued an ‘orange’ notice to the Telangana state disaster management authority.
“There will be light to moderate rains along with winds in Hyderabad city on November 26 under the influence of the storm over the sea, ”Nagaratna said.
