Patna:
The Nitish Kumar government in Bihar on Tuesday took a further step towards fulfilling a key electoral promise made by ruling Janata Dal United and his ally BJP, as it approved a proposal to provide a free coronavirus vaccine to the entire population. of the state. The decision was made at the first cabinet meeting since the ministry assignments last month.
The cabinet also approved a proposal to generate 20 lakhs of private and government jobs, which were promised by the National Democratic Alliance to counter opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav’s promise of government jobs.
The state government, however, has not clarified how the promised jobs will be created.
The government has also approved several proposals related to the empowerment of women. A flat grant of Rs 50,000 will be awarded to single female graduates; while those who have only completed school will get 25,000 rupees. A scheme will be launched whereby women will receive interest-free loans of up to Rs 5 lakh to become entrepreneurs.
The cabinet has approved the implementation of “Saat nishchay Part 2 “, the second part of the seven resolves that the Chief Minister announced before the Bihar assembly election to highlight his vision of the state.
The opposition had criticized the BJP for announcing a free vaccine only for the state forced to vote.
“What about states not ruled by the BJP? Indians who did not vote for the BJP will not get the free Covid vaccine.” – He had questioned Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
The BJP-led center earlier this month said it may not be necessary to vaccinate the entire population of the country.
“I just want to make this clear that the government has never talked about vaccinating the entire country. It is important that we discuss these scientific issues based solely on factual information and then analyze them,” Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said for the PTI news agency as saying.
In response, Congress claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised everyone vaccinations and the comment was a “U-turn” on the part of the central government.
The center said Tuesday it was examining applications from Bharat Biotech, Serum Institute and Pfizer for emergency use authorization for their vaccines.
