  • The leadership of JD (U) has expressed its disgust at the political developments in Arunachal
  • Last week, six JD (U) MLA left the match and joined the BJP in Arunachal.

Patna: Hours after handing over the reins of Janata Dal (United) to party leader Ramchandra Prasad Singh, popularly known as RCP Singh, Nitish Kumar dropped another bomb on Sunday, claiming he did not want the post of Chief Minister.

Kumar claimed that he had to take the CM chair due to the immense pressure and doesn’t care who takes the Bihar hot seat.

During the JD (U) national executive meeting, Nitish Kumar reportedly said: “People say that the BJP wants the CM position. I don’t care. I am not attached to the position.”

“After the election results came in, I made my wish known to the coalition. But the pressure was so great that I had to get back to work,” he added.

It should be noted that Nitish Kumar’s statement comes amid growing tensions within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) following the decision of six JD (U) MLAs to leave the party and join the BJP in Arunachal Pradesh.

In their first big reaction, the JD (U) leadership expressed their disgust at the political developments in Arunachal and emphasized that this is not a good sign for the alliance’s politics.

The JD (U), however, maintained that the Arunachal episode will not be related to Bihar politics as there is no “dispute” in its alliance government.

Nitish Kumar’s close confidant, RCP Singh, becomes JD (U) ‘s new boss

RCP Singh, a close confidant of Nitish Kumar, was elected yesterday as the new president of JD (U). Kumar had proposed Singh’s name for the highest post, which was later approved by other members during the party’s national executive meeting.

The prime minister, who was re-elected as chairman of JD (U) in 2019 for three years, resigned in favor of Singh, its leader in Rajya Sabha.

Singh, a bureaucrat turned politician, was until now the general secretary of the regional party.
