The head of Janata United and chosen by the National Democratic Alliance, Nitish Kumar, was sworn in on Monday as Prime Minister of Bihar and marked his fourth consecutive term in office after a close and contested state Assembly elections. The results of the polls, conducted in three phases, were announced on November 10.

– Tarkishore Prasad (BJP): Chief Deputy Minister
– Renu Devi (BJP): Deputy Chief Minister

The NDA has secured a 125-seat majority in the 243-seat Bihar Legislative Assembly, of which BJP won with 74 seats, JD (U) with 43, while two other NDA constituents won eight seats. The RJD, on the other hand, emerged as the largest party with 75 seats, while Congress only won 19 of the 70 seats it had contested.
