NEW DELHI: Union Minister for Highway Transport and MSMEs Nitin Gadkari said Tuesday that the government is trying to create five million jobs over the next five years.
He said that the turnover of rural industries is Rs 80 billion, which is forecast to be Rs 5 million lakh in the next five years. To do this, we work in a planned way in agriculture and rural zones.
The Minister of the Union intervened in the Agri-Food Processing Summit organized by the Agrovision Foundation through virtual medium. On this occasion, he said that central government schemes will create job opportunities in agriculture and food processing in the near future.
Referring to the excellent food grain production in the country, Gadkari said that India has 280 lakh tonnes of rice, which we can supply to world markets. He said that an economy of Rs 2 lakh crore in the agricultural sector will be made up of ethanol, of which Rs 1 lakh crore will go into the pockets of farmers. The program, organized through virtual media, had the participation of Union agriculture and Farmer Welfare, Rural Development, Panchayat Raj and Food processing industries Minister Narendra Singh Tomar as the main guest.
Gadkari thanked Tomar for approving 37 mega food parks and starting 21 for the Ministry of Food Processing. Gadkari said that by 2030, India will become the world’s fifth largest consuming country, so India’s food processing sector is making progress.
He said that expansion of this area is being planned. Kisan Rail has also become famous, due to the railways having earned income of Rs 1 crore from Vidarbha alone. He suggested developing a special storage system for onions.
