Nikita Tomar Murder Case 2020: Court Grants Tausif and Rehan Life Sentence | Faridabad News


FARIDABAD: a fast track court in Haryana‘s Faridabad sentenced the main defendants to life imprisonment: Tausif and Rehan – in 2020 Nikita Tomar murder case.
Earlier, Faridabad Additional District and Session Judge Sartaj Baswana had convicted the two, while a third defendant, Azharuddin, had been acquitted.

The two men had been convicted under sections 302 (murder), 366 (abduction of a woman to force her into marriage) and 120-B / 34 (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code.
Tausif was also found guilty under the Gun Act.

Azharuddin, who was arrested on the charge of supplying the illicit weapon used in the crime, was acquitted.
On October 26, 2020, Nikita Tomar (20) was shot dead outside her university in Faridabad by Tausif, who was her former classmate.

On January 15, the main defendant had approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking a new investigation of the case, claiming that the FIR registered against him was a request from Nikita’s family to cover up his act of “murder for honor “.

According to Tausif and Rehan, they have been involved in an affair that they were unaware of and were not even physically present.
