Amid the increase in coronavirus cases in several cities in India, several state governments have imposed new restrictions to slow the spread of COVID-19 and break the chain of deadly viral infections.
While Delhi and Noida once again imposed the limit on the number of wedding guests, night curfews and Section 144 are imposed in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
Take a look at the new rules imposed by different states in major cities:
Delhi: Although the chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal, has announced that there will be no general lockdown in the national capital, he said there will be strict surveillance on the city’s markets.
The Delhi government has already increased the fine for not wearing face masks from Rs 500 to Rs 2000. Tobacco use, spitting in public places, violating quarantine rules and failing to maintain social distancing will also attract a fine of Rs 2000.
Gujarat: A nighttime curfew has been imposed in the city between 9:00 PM and 6:00 AM from November 20 (Friday). The curfew will remain in force until further orders, said the additional chief secretary (Forests and Environment), Rajiv Kumar Gupta.
Gupta said in a statement that although the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has taken various measures, a nightly curfew is needed to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
